techne the art of technology
This section is devoted to my life as a rat in the ivory tower of academia. I am a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon's Language Technologies Institute (part of the School of Computer Science). My research is currently focused on furthering the state of the art in Example Based Machine Translation.

The Greeks used the term techne (from which we get the word technology) to describe applying knowledge in such a fashion to craft an object or achieve a goal (Wikipedia). Technology does not exist on its own; it is a creation of the human spirit interacting with the world. Likewise, its application is not in isolation. Thus, we should pursue technology that enriches humanity--not devalues it.
